Public launch at Our Cow Molly
A breezy day up at Our Cow Molly dairy farm and ice cream parlour certainly wasn’t enough to deter our supporters! Thanks to our peers in the sustainability sector, long-time project supporters and partners, local politicians, friends and lots of new faces, for coming along to find out more and support the launch of the Community Share Offer - meaning you can now invest in our flagship decarbonisation project!
We’re delighted to say that we’ve seeing community investors from all over Sheffield, and with a range of investment sizes - minimum share purchase is £5, making this a really accessible opportunity! It was brilliant to hear from farmer Eddie Andrew about how energy stability and decarbonisation will make a huge difference to the future of the farm, protecting daily operations from grid price volatility. Thanks of course have to go to our Project Officer Emma Dowson at the North East & Yorkshire Net Zero Hub, who have funded the project through feasibility and the creation of Sheffield Energy Works. A real push to embrace community energy and support local food production from Jonathan Hind, director at SY Ecofit CIC and Sheffield Energy Works, who’s been heading up the project since the beginning.
Lastly, we were pleased to be joined by both Olivia Blake, Labour MP for Sheffield Hallam, and Andy Davies, Green Party Councillor for Walkley, who both wished to express sincere support for the project and spoke about how we can boost community energy more widely, creating climate resilience, reducing fuel poverty, and protecting more of our local businesses, homes and community places from future fuel crises.
